Congratulations Red Wings!

So the Red Wings are the winner of the 2008 Stanley cup finals and seeing as I live in Michigan and close to Detroit, I was pretty excited that we won. I missed the parade but the game was excellent. I think my favorite player and the one who got the mvp anyways was Zetterberg. I felt like Pittsburgh had a ton of heart and they never gave up. I so wanted them to win on my birthday though. If it would've gone into overtime and past midnight, Detroit woul'dve won the cup on my birthday.
So what do the Red Wings have to do with this post? Well, another "Wing" wants to say congratulations!

So this was a bad pun but Paul has a Detroit connection. The guitar in the picture is Paul's Epiphone Texan Acoustic from 1964. He played this guitar when the Beatles performed in America for the first time on the Ed Sullivan Show. It also has a few tie-in's to me! My mother saw the Beatles when she was 13 years old at the Olympia Stadium in Detroit in 1964. Now Paul says that he got the Red Wings sticker given to him by a fan when he played Detroit in 1976 at Olympia Stadium which used to be where the Red Wings played before they moved to the Joe Lois. Apparently since that concert was in May, the season was almost over so McCartney and his band came out with hockey sticks at one point instead of instruments. Obviously he was in Wings at the time which is why this all makes sense.
Also, I got to see Paul in concert for the US tour in 2005 and he played this guitar during "Yesterday" and he still had the sticker on it.
How cool to have a little of Detroit history!
