Paul McCartney at Liverpool Sound Concert

This post is late due to the fact that here in the Midwest, we lost power. Luckily our power was out for only a few hours BUT our cable and internet was out for about two days (Thanks Comcast). I'm delayed in posting this and I am giving you this gift.
Paul McCartney performed in his native Liverpool a few weeks ago June 1st. He played a homecomming concert at Amfield Stadium in front of 36,000 fans. Liverpool just happens to be the 2008 European Capitol of Culture. Ringo was also said to play and many speculated a possible Beatles reunion but that did not happen. The whole McCartney clan seemed to be in additance as well as Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison. Paul's set list was pretty good for the concert and he threw in some 'newer' tunes that he hasn't done as well as John's "Give peace a chance" which was kinda cool and unexpected and also included McCartney doing "A day in the life."
Playing on a few songs with McCartney was also Foo-fighter Dave Grohl who played guitar on "Band on the run" and then switched to drums for "Back in the USSR" and "I saw her standing there."
Stella also held her fashion show at LIPA.
The show was streamed on BBC radio and I've included the link here if you want to try to listen to it BUT you have to go ahead like 20 hrs.

On to the video's that I found on Youtube:

"Hippy Hippy Shake"

"Something." Paul of course plays the ukelele that George gave him. Olivia's in the crowd and I really love this song. I teared up a bit.

"My love." This one was for the late Linda McCartney who died in 1998 from breast cancer. Paul get's a little chocked up during this but it's just beautiful.

"A day in the life/Give peace a chance." I have never heard "A day in the life" live before EVER so this was pretty darn amazing. They had all the parts too. The funny bit was that Paul got John's lyrics correct but messed up his own! I laughed out loud. Then the band went into "Give peace a Chance" which was a great sing along w/ Yoko and Olivia joining in too! I was singing along at home. LOVED IT!

Dave Grohl on drums during "Back in the USSR."

Dave playing guitar on "Band on the run."

Here's "Hey Jude" thrown in here for good measure.

Dave on drums again for "I saw her standing there." This one ROCKED! Rusty's solo was electrifying and Wix's keyboad playing was awesome. Paul also played his iconic Hofner bass on this one. EXCELLENT SHOW AND CLOSER!
Man that was one HELL of a concert and McCartney doesn't sound any different than when he was in the Beatles. I can't believe he's turning 66 next week! He sounds terrific, better than when I saw him in 05'. He hasn't aged a bit, I swear. YEAY LIVERPOOL!
